The Silver Bear Jury Prize (Short Film) goes to „A Woman’s Place Is Everywhere“ by Fanny Texier.
The jury statement presented by Stefan Grissemann:
„For our Silver Bear, we chose a film that you cannot take your eyes off, as it recounts its touching story with utmost precision and atmospheric flair. It is a long-term observation following the lives of a pair of identical twins in a Williamsburg loft their mother set up in the 1970’s in an empty industrial building. This film, softly switching between the decades, addresses the experience of migration, the challenges of sister- and motherhood, legal disputes against eviction, gentrification of the neighbourhood. It is a delicate fable of place and identity, of being stranded in New York City, of where to belong, set to the sound of an old, slightly out of tune piano. It is a personal, political, and tenderly emotional work, gently flowing with the stream of life. The Silver Bear of the Berlinale Shorts 2026 goes to Fanny Texier and her marvellous film “A Woman’s Place is Everywhere.”“
